Your Questions Answered

is there anywhere i can't have a tattoo?

Overall, there are no places that can not be tattooed, there are however some areas of the body as a professional studio we will refuse to tattoo.

As a studio rule we do not tattoo heads/upper necks/hands/face unless the client has a written note from their employer saying that it will not detrimentally affect their position at work/will never work or to be affected by the tattoo they are getting or already have enough coverage to reasonably justify this tattoo in that area of the body.

Why choose ink me for my tattoo?

Our fully licensed facilities and professional artists are fully trained in all aspects of tattooing and hygiene care, our facilities are state of the art and regularly maintained and cleaned to a high level of cleanliness throughout the studio.

We have a brand new Vacuum Autoclave that is designed specifically for tattoo equipment. Before entering the Vacuum Autoclave all our reusable equipment is put into an Ultrasonic bath that aids the cleanliness of the equipment. Any disposable items or equipment is disposed of in separate waste bins and collected by a regulated waste management company.

how will i decide on what i want?

Generally there are two ways that a tattoo design is decided on, the first way is what would generally be called "Flash" and involves existing imagery usually in a book or sheet form that will be generally taken straight out of that reference and traced onto the skin.

The other way of a design coming about is generally called "Custom". This custom style is what we commonly at Ink Me, we prefer this side as it gives more freedom to the customer and they can get something completely unique and personal to them.

A custom tattoo can come about from any kind of reference imagery, photographs, doodles, illustrations or even imagery just found on google images. The artists here at the studio will then take those references and create you a design, send it back to you for your perusal, if there are parts you don't like or wish to tweak they will gladly do this so it suits you perfectly and is exactly what you want.

can i use numbing cream or painkillers?

You can use numbing cream, as a studio unfortunately we do not recommend it for several reasons. Firstly, it needs to be applied around thirty minutes before you sit down for your tattoo as it takes a while to become effective.

It will only last for around thirty to forty five minutes, even if your tattoo is meant to take this length of tome or shorter.

There may be circumstances where your tattoo over runs or tour artist needs to do extra work and this would make the numbing cream redundant. The longer the numbing cream is effective for, in a long sitting, the worse the pain will be eventually once your body kicks back into action.

painkillers?

Some tablet pain killers can also cause a problem. Aspirin is the biggest problem as it thins the blood and reduces clotting, this will cause excessive bleeding during your tattoo, which will affect the quality of the finished tattoo.

Aspirin will also extend the healing time that your tattoo needs so it is best avoided. Paracetemol will have little effect (positive or negative), other than a placebo. Ibrufen based painkillers can give some pain relief during the process and will not hinder the tattoo in anyway.

IS GETTING A TATTOO PAINFUL?

Generally tattooing is considered painful, realistically it varies from both person to person and whereabouts on the body the tattoo is taking place. The type of tattoo you are getting will also have an impact on the amount of pain associated with it.

how long will my tattoo take?

The time that a tattoo takes drastically varies, smaller designs that consist of maybe a single item or single line of script or name etc will take around 30 minutes to one hour.

Anything more complicated than that will take a longer period of time, generally if a design is sent to us or if we create a design for you then we will be able to judge approximately what length of time that individual piece will take.
